Ha ha! No death by Strat allowed!

Key difference: unlike the dojo, the guitar studio is non-competitive. Jamming together is more of a dance than a sparring session. That said, when we trade solos back and forth, I've been known to try and light a fire under somebody!

I can relate to this, especially being humble, from when I used to go to karate lessons. I got my black belt but if my mentor, or instructor, thought I was getting above myself when I was fighting with him, he would beat the living daylights out of me to remind me who he was and who I was. I remember him doing this on two occasions. After the second time he laughed and said something about one of his black belts trying to beat him up.
I don't supposed you're allowed to do that with your students, beat them to death with a Fender Strat if they try and out solo you.
